1.       LAND TO LANDLESS TENANTS (12.5 ACRES SCHEME)

·        This scheme has been launched initially in 18 districts of Punjab.
·        78025 acres of state land has been earmarked for allotment to 6242 landless tenants / small landowners.
·        Out of the total available lots (6242), as many as 4719 allotted to the landless tenants.
Salient Features of the Scheme:-
·        Each landless tenant / small landowner will be eligible for allotment of 12.5 acres of land.
·        A nominal price Rs. 5/- per PIU (Rs. 200/- per acre approximately) will be charged from the grantees which will be payable in easy installments.
SHELTER TO THE SHELTERLESS TENANTS ( FIVE MARLA SCHEME)
·        172455 five-marla residential plots identified for distribution free of cost in the rural areas in a phased programme.
·        114000 plots have been allotted in 27 districts.
Features of the Scheme:-
·        Provision of one five marla plot per family
·        Non proprietors in rural areas are eligible.
·        These plots will be allotted free of cost.
·        Grant of proprietary rights on completion of houses.
STRENGTHENING OF  LAMBARDARI SYSTEM.

·        In order to strengthen the institution of Lambardaars, Punjab Government has revised its policy regarding grant of state land (12.5 acres in each case) under Lambardaari Scheme in Colony Districts of the Province. In non-colony and baarani districts, fees like Abiana, Rehabilitation Fee, Historical Mosque Fund Cess, Temporay cultivation lease money and cash rent in respect of State Land, Consolidation Fee and Local Rate are being enhanced.
Features of the Land Grnat Scheme (in Colony Districts)
·        The allotment will be made on lease basis, free of rent.
·        The unit of allotment will be 12.5 acres
·        The lease of lot shall continue during the period, the lambardaar holds office.
·        No proprietary rights shall be granted in respect of these lots.

Agriculture Income Tax (AIT)
On the direction of the former Chief Minister Punjab, Ch. Pervaiz Elahi, the slab of the agriculture income tax had been increased. Previously, AIT was payable on 5 acres has been exempted from AIT . It is a big relief which is provided  by the PML government and 98% small land owners of 12.5 acres have been solved and only 2% big landlords  are paying AIT.

AN OVER VIEW OF IRRIGATION ACHIEVEMENTS.
     The Punjab Irrigation system is one of rthe largest contiguous irrigation systems in the world. Main components of its colossal infrastructure comprise 13 barrages / headworks, 22 main canal systems (3993 miles / 6429 km long with total off-take capacity of 120.000 cusec /3399 cumecs), inter-river link canal canals  (528 miles/850 km long with total off-take capacity of 110,000 cusec / 3115 cumecs). 2794 distributaries and minors ( 19387 miles/ 31,214 km long) 44 small dams and an extensive network of surface drains (6122 miles / 9856 km long) and flood embankments (2005 miles/3228 km long). The system is serving 20.78 milluion acres/8.41 million hectare culture able command area through 58,000 off-take outlets and has gradually achieved an average cropping intensity of 122 percent.
In view of the importance of water for sustainable socio-economic development, Punjab Government has planned and initiated a comprehensive Irrigation Secrtor Reforms Programme (ISRP)
The major programme and mega projects initiated in the Irrigation Sector are:
Programmes.
·        Rehabilitation and Modernization of barrages ;
·        Integrated irrigation system rehabilitation and modernization;
·        Selective Canal lining;
·        Construction of large, medium and small dams;
·        Optimal canal operations planning;
·        Transition of SCARP tube-wells to farming community in fresh groundwater areas;
·        Environmental mitigation and groundwater management interventions;
·        Empowerment of Farmers Organizations.
