Punjab Share: 33% + 20% O & M cost
The project includes the following main installations:
(1) Effluent Eater Treatment Plant.
(2) Chromium Recovery Plant.
(3) Solid Waste Management System
Performance: Chrome Recovery 97%
Through this project River Ravi would be protected from the pollution of toxic and chemical waste.

GREEN FUND FOR CLEAN CITIES CREATED BY CHIEF MINISTER PUNJAB
The Green Program will sponsor interventions that fall into the scope outlined below:
Address issues of urban air pollution by sponsoring environment friendly technologies in transport sectors, to assist Local Governments in developing:-
(1) Environment friendly solid waste disposal in the urban areas.
(2) Sewerage (waste disposal facility) and drainage systems in the urban areas.
(3) Provision of clean drinking water by improvement of waster quality in important water resources and installation of water treatment plants.
(4) Rehabilitation of fresh water bodies.
(5) Invest in environment friendly technology transfer projects, in the specified areas to fulfill national commitments under the Multilateral Environmental Agreements.
(6) Pilot innovative approaches for promotion of green culture both in the industrial (like ISO 14000 certification etc) and agricultural sectors in the province.
(7) Fund research in environmental policy issues, environmental base line studies, and civic enforcement of environmental laws.
(8) Collaborate with the other stake holders and with the international donor agencies to sponsor joint projects for sustainable development and environmental protection.

§ Phasing out 2 stroke motor cab rickshaw from major cities by Dec 2007.
§ Induction of 4-stroke CNG Cab Rickshaw.
INCENTIVES
§ Interest free loan ratio 25/75%
§ Interest amount will be picked up by Govt. of Punjab.
§ 1500 CNG rickshaws now plying on Lahore roads.
§ 1175 Environmental approvals issued for setting up CNG Stations in the Province.
§ Government of Punjab will provide subsidy / financial support to the operators of CNG dedicated buses by sharing 20% of the cost.
§ On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi the offices of Environmental Protection Department has been established in all 35 districts.

§ To monitor and control the air pollution measure would be taken to fix the laboratory instruments in big cities.
§ Water quality checked in all big cities,
§ A campaign has been launched to destroy chemical drums
§ To save the water of river Ravi a water treatment plant has been installed at Babu Sabu.
§ A Programme have been initiated to shifted the leather factories from residential areas for this purpose Chief Minister has distributed 10 lakh Rs. each factory.
§ Awareness programme has started for encouraging people for the use of shopping bags.
§ Campaign has been started for tree plantation in the province.
§ Study has been completed to control the air pollution due to crush stoning in Sargodha District.
§ Environment protection department have checked 2 lakh public transport vehicles and fined 16 crore rupees and impounded 10 thousand vehicles.
An amount of Rs. 1 crore have been sanctioned to complete the Environmental Projects with the collaboration of Federal government and NGOs.
